Drifting apart

The words have run cold
Like the hearts.
Such distance
That can’t be measured just in miles.

The hearts shrank as well
Squeezed out all the past they contained,
All the warmth,
Till they got minuscule.

It’s so easy
To not see each-other
Anymore.

umm..

The dream is asleep
Its gossamer eyes are peaceful,
Happy.

The dawn is yet to break
It’s approaching,
Slowly.

I want it to wake up
Open its eyes,
Breathe.

In your arms.

What do empty words contain?

There was a pause
A sentence gulped
A hope submerged
Into the fear
Of uncertainty.

And then
A series of silence
Followed a series
Of empty words.

And fell into the
Void
Between us.

Making us
Part.

Further.

Wait

One dream
Weaved into many others-
Tiny, precious, making the whole alive;
It breathes through my emotions.

There are falls after peaks
What comes after heightened limbo?
What remains when broken pieces
Evaporate into thin air?

One breath
Weaved into many others-
Tiny, precious, filling me with life,
It yearns through my emotions
It yearns through..

It yearns,
For you.

Shhh..

When do words cease to matter?
These days
My words seem to speak for themselves
I half listen.

I like silence-
It speaks so much more
There’s room for words around it,
And for touch.

But if I could read yours better
(For I can’t read your eyes),
I would’ve asked for something else
From the wishing star last night.

Parting

I haven’t written to you in a long time
The lines have dried into a dull ache
Which has stretched itself upto you,
But not quite.

My love is as simple as breathing
And you, as immense as life
Yes, you know that you’re missed,
But not quite.

Jaded

I surged towards the sand
Time and again,
But it failed to soak me in.

Your spell

Images dance across my silent canvas,
The backlog of my unwritten thoughts:

Your voice,
How perfectly it hugs my name
I almost smile, helplessly numb.

The elusive sensation of touch
Beyond the physical
That you evoke.

You flirt with my *Dancing Princess,
Wave a few stars aside
And make room for us.

Somewhere along the way
I must’ve slipped you the key to reach me,
I see you opening the door.

*Dancing Princess is a constellation I made. She can be seen this time of the year flowing her ball-gown in the eastern sky.

the sky is full of stars
i hope that some are mine
but when i stretch out my hand
they shrink and break apart
disintegrate
and i shrink back
afraid to hope again
and break again.

Fake smile

I could say
In as many words,

I know this molten hurt
Like an old friend.

My heart
Is split in two,

I ain’t ready to kill it
I ain’t ready to pretend.

Your city wont be the same

Delhi is your city for me
You are leaving,
Whose city would it be?

I wouldn’t want to go there anymore
Its air would prick me
The places would go sour.

For all its history, walled and new
Why should I care
When it wouldn’t have you?

Either make it just another city for me,
Erase the past,
Or don’t leave Delhi..
